Energy and Environment

I was raised in the First District, so I know how beautiful our island is. In the Town of Brookhaven, our leaders have worked tirelessly to make sure our town remains beautiful, all members of the Brookhaven Town Board should be commended for their work to make Long Island Green Again. We should take some of the great ideas promoted by the Town of Brookhaven, and the multiple other towns, villages, and hamlets, in the First District, to the national level. We should be promoting initiatives like the Great American Cleanup and push individuals to go out and clean up our streets, beaches, waterways, and cities to Make America CLEAN Again. Republicans need to go back to Theodore Roosevelt and push conservationism. We are all called to be good stewards of the Earth, let's do just that and preserve our beautiful country.

We also have to take into account our energy crisis. Listen, I understand the pain at the pump. I don't have an electric car, so I am paying the same prices as you. We need to fix the bottlenecks at our refineries and get gasoline back into the market to drive those prices down. We should drop the federal gas tax until prices return to levels seen over two years ago. We have to make sure that the American commuters and the truckers are no longer paying the price for runaway gas prices. I want to get into office and get those gas prices down so Americans no longer have to worry about paying 80, 90, or 100 dollars or more at the pump.

We also should be investing in green energy like solar, water, nuclear, wind, and other sources of energy. Coal is cheap, but so are solar and other renewables when we invest in large-scale renewable power plants. I disagree with far-left Democrats on their environmental policies, and I believe their view on radically changing our electricity grid is a fallacy. However, change is possible through smart investments and supply-and-demand economics, green energy can become just as reliable as coal and oil. I want to work with moderate Democrats and members of the Republican Party to create real long-lasting green environmental policy. I want to make America an example for the world when it comes to investing in renewable energy. Let's work to make this a reality. Let's work to Make America Green by voting for Dean.
